Cancun

Cancun… A Multi-Faceted Destination for Everyone!

Cancun, Mexico, is wrapped in white sand beaches, clear blue waters and brilliant sunshine, so it’s no wonder its shoreline gets top billing. Government developers, looking for a way to eradicate the poverty of the region, created this comfortable resort area on the Mexican Caribbean from the sand up to take advantage of the gorgeous aquamarine water and tropical temperate climate. Cancun is the top resort area in Mexico.

The entire Hotel Zone is shaped very similar to the number “7″ with the most action up near the northern end (top right on the map)

Cancun either reassures visitors or annoys them. Travelers who enjoy the feel of Old Mexico will never find Cancun to be as traditional, colorful or as spontaneous. With more than 32,000 hotel rooms, it’s not the place for isolated sun worship, either. The resort facilities have overgrown the original plans for the town, making the layout of hotels and shops somewhat cramped as newer, more sprawling properties have been constructed on the edge of town in recent years.

Adults-Only Resorts

Adults-only All-inclusive resorts are varied in Cancun and surrounding areas, form budget to luxury – in the hotel zone or a bit removed. Adults-only resorts in Cancun are perfect for Honeymoons, Anniversary celebrations, Destination Weddings (if children are not involved) and friends getaways.

Some of EZTravelPad’s favorites in the Cancun area are:

Riviera Maya

The Riviera Maya area is a stretch of beach extending south from Cancun’s Hotel Zone for about 60 miles along pristine beaches and once small fishing villages. Tourist development have been significant and continues at a rapid pace helped by a terrific tourist infrastructure, strong demand and excellent workforce.

Today some of the world’s top resort brands (Fairmont, Viceroy, Rosewood, etc) along with some of the top all-inclusive brands (Karisma, Palace, AMResorts & more) offer a wide range of accommodations in beautifully tropical feeling paradises

But it’s not all about the hotels – boasting the world’s 2nd largest reef just a few miles offshore, the Riviera Maya area offers a ton of adventures along with world class shopping, dining and so much more!

Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta has been a favorite destination for Americans to enjoy since Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor fell in love there in 1964 during the filming of “Night of the Iguana” – and it’s easy to see why

Thi sis the area where the Sierra Madre mountain range meets the Pacific ocean to creat a stunning backdrop in every direction. Humpback whales migrate every season from Alaska to mate and breed in the warm waters of Banderas Bay.

Beautiful yes, but Puerto Vallarta is really famous for it’s rich cuisine and relaxed local flair. It’s easy to stroll the streets of the Old Town “The Romantic Zone” shopping, dining, and drinking up the rich culture (and of course the tequila)

Another terrific area to visit is the marina district where abundant shopping and dining opportunities exist.

There are several terrific choices for all-inclusive resorts in PIerto Vallarta – some located conveniently near the Malecon and Old Town while others are a bit more remote yet in scenic locations – some of EZTravelPad’s favorites include

Adults-Only

  • Secrets Vallarta Bay
  • Grand Fiesta Americana
  • Casa Velas

Family Friendly

  • Hyatt Ziva
  • Fiesta Americana
  • Barcelo Puerto Vallarta

Riviera Nayarit

The Riviera Nayarit is the stretch of beaches that begin just north from Puerto Vallarta. It shares Bandaras bay with Puerto Vallarta but also extends further north to quieter communities past Punta de Mita and beyond.

A very lively and popular surf community approx 45 minutes north is the small town of Sayulita. There is much good shopping and dining as well as good places to catch a very basic (and very inexpensive) massage

The gated area around Punta Mita just south from Sayulita is popular for luxury golf resorts

For checking out a pristine local beach off the beaten path don;t miss San Pancho (San Francisco) – it doesn’t get much less developed than San Pancho!

Family Friendly

  • Hard Rock Vallarta
  • Grand Velas
  • Riu Palace Pacifico
  • Iberostar Punta Mita

Los Cabos

Los Cabos is a destination unlike any you may have experienced before

At the tip of Baja California lies this land of desert, beauty, life, dining, art, nightlife and excellent resorts of all types.

The world renowned ocean explorer and conservationist Jacques Cousteau once famously called the Sea of Cortez “the aquarium of the world” and rightfully so. The sea is filled with a rich diversity of marine life but it’s not all about the sea – there is much to experience on dry land as well!
