The Bittersweet Side of Summer Travel Season for Travel Advisors

By | Blog, Travel Tips | No Comments

Summer travel season is one of the best times of year in the travel business.

It is also one of the most bittersweet.

On one hand, there is nothing better than seeing clients enjoying the trips we helped create. The photos come in, the smiles are obvious, the memories are being made, and it feels incredibly rewarding to know we played a small part in making that happen. That is the heart of this business. Helping people experience something meaningful, memorable, and well planned is what makes being a travel advisor so fulfilling.

On the other hand, summer also brings a flood of travel photos from friends, family, and connections who are clearly having an amazing time on their vacations, but who never reached out for help. That can be a little hard to see, especially when you know how much smoother, easier, and often more affordable the experience could have been with the right guidance.

Sometimes they used a different travel advisor, and that is perfectly fine. In fact, that is something we should all support. Choosing to work with a professional is always a smart move.

Sometimes they planned the trip on their own, maybe using loyalty points or airline miles, which is completely understandable and sometimes the right choice. In those situations, a travel advisor may not even be able to help in the same way.

But other times, it seems like they simply assumed they could build the same experience on their own for less money.

That is where things get frustrating.

Because in many cases, a good travel advisor can do far more than just save money. We can save time. We can reduce stress. We can help travelers avoid confusing booking mistakes, hidden headaches, and expensive surprises. We can recommend better-fit resorts, smarter flight options, stronger value, and travel experiences that are more aligned with what the traveler actually wants. Often we can add value to the exact same cruise (like bonus on-board credits), or exact same resort (like added experiences at no additional charge) or craft a unique experience that they simply cannot achieve on their own.

And perhaps most importantly, we help remove uncertainty.

Planning travel on your own can feel exciting at first, but it can quickly become overwhelming. There are endless choices, changing rules, shifting schedules, and dozens of small decisions that can make a big difference in the final experience. That is where a travel advisor becomes valuable, not just as a booking resource, but as a trusted guide.

The truth is, travel is too important to leave to chance.

When travelers work with a knowledgeable advisor, they are not just buying a trip. They are buying confidence, convenience, and peace of mind. They are getting someone in their corner who is focused on creating the best possible experience from the very beginning.

So yes, summer can feel bittersweet when we see some travelers enjoying trips we helped plan and others enjoying trips we never got the chance to shape. But it also serves as a reminder of why this work matters so much.

The right travel advisor can save you money, yes. But just as often, they save you from the frustration, uncertainty, and costly mistakes that can turn a dream trip into a stressful one.

If you are planning your next vacation, consider reaching out to a travel advisor before you book on your own. You may be surprised at how much better the experience can be.

How a Travel Advisor Helps You Choose the Right Maui Luau

By | Dining, Hawaii | No Comments

If you’re planning a trip to Maui, there’s a good chance a luau is on your must-do list. And honestly, it should be. A good luau is one of the best ways to experience Hawaiian culture, enjoy live entertainment, and spend an unforgettable evening with family, friends, or your partner.

But here’s the catch: not all luaus are the same.

That’s one of the biggest reasons working with a travel advisor can make such a difference. A travel advisor can help you narrow down the options based on what matters most to you, whether that’s the quality of the food, the style of the dining, the overall value, the bar offerings, the setting, or the entertainment experience itself.

Sometimes a travel advisor may not have personally experienced every single luau, but a great advisor knows how to dig into the right resources, compare the subtle differences, and help you make the best choice for your trip. And in this case, I recently had the chance to experience two of Maui’s most popular luaus firsthand, so I wanted to share a few thoughts that may help you decide which one is the best fit for you.

Myths of Maui Luau at Royal Lahaina Beach Resort

The first luau we experienced was the Myths of Maui Luau at the Royal Lahaina Beach Resort in Kaanapali.

This was a very enjoyable evening overall. The performers did a terrific job, and the show itself was entertaining from start to finish. It offered a strong value for the price, especially for travelers who want a memorable luau experience without stretching the budget too far.

The food was good, the atmosphere was festive, and the open bar was available, though it felt a little more limited compared to the second luau we attended. Still, for many travelers, this luau would be an excellent choice, particularly if value is a top priority.

Te Au Moana Luau at Wailea Beach Resort
The second luau we experienced was the Te Au Moana Luau at Wailea Beach Resort.

What stood out most here was the food. It was slightly better overall, and the family-style service at the table made the experience feel more relaxed and communal. That detail really made a difference, and it was something many guests seemed to appreciate more than the buffet style offered at the Myths of Maui Luau.

The open bar was also more robust, with a wider selection of drink options, which added to the overall experience.

That said, Te Au Moana does come at a higher price point, about $100 more per person. For some travelers, that extra cost may not feel necessary. But for those who place more value on the dining experience, upgraded beverage offerings, and a more polished overall presentation, the higher price may absolutely be worth it.

So Which Maui Luau Is Better?
The honest answer is: it depends on what you value most.

If you want a strong, enjoyable luau experience at a better price point, Myths of Maui is a very good choice.

If you prefer a more elevated food and beverage experience and don’t mind paying a bit more, Te Au Moana may be the better fit.

The performances at both luaus were excellent, and the entertainers were highly skilled and engaging at each one. In that sense, you really can’t go wrong. The difference comes down to the details that matter most to you as a traveler.

Why This Is Exactly Where a Travel Advisor Helps
This is one of those situations where a travel advisor can save you time, stress, and second-guessing.

Instead of spending hours trying to compare reviews, pricing, dining styles, and subtle experience differences, your travel advisor can help guide you toward the option that best matches your preferences and budget.

That’s the real value of having someone in your corner who understands travel and knows how to match the right experience to the right traveler.

At EZTravelPad, that’s exactly what we aim to do. We help you make confident travel decisions and provide advice you can trust, so your vacation feels more personal, more seamless, and more rewarding from the start.

Final Thoughts
Both luaus were worthwhile, and both delivered an enjoyable evening on Maui. The right choice simply depends on whether you prioritize value or a more elevated experience.

If you’re planning a Maui vacation and trying to decide which luau is best for you, we’d be happy to help guide you.
